A couple years ago I uploaded an educational video for my Youtube channel subscribers that described how anyone can use a couple of simple scans for finding great trading setups. I demonstrated these scans using the free Finviz.com website, but the scans can be reproduced in a number of technical scanning tools, like Stockcharts, Ninja Trader, Metastock, TC 2000, ESignal, and so on.

These scans focus on stocks making strong breakout moves on above average volume from periods of consolidation. The scans can be used for either long or short trades, but the focus either way is relatively short-term (1 to 2 weeks). For this reason, these setups make great short lists for your options trading.
